ABOUT THE SHOW
The Last Cyclist tells of the inmates in an insane asylum who take over the world. Their dictatorial leader, Ma’am, once had a psychiatrist who stuck needles in her arms. This psychiatrist rode a bicycle, so the former inmates figure that if they can only get rid of all the cyclists in the world, their troubles will be over.
Based on a cabaret written in the Terezin Ghetto in 1944 by Karel Svenk
Reconstructed and re-imagined by Naomi Patz
Directed by Kris Clark
There was an old joke among the Jews living in Europe between the two world wars: First man: The Jews and the cyclist are responsible for all of the problems of the world. Second man: Why the cyclists?
Third man: Why the Jews?
In a world where building a wall and refusing entry to an entire population are being touted as solutions to all of our problems, shouldn't we question the sanity of unfettered prejudice and oppression?
